Power to women in peace processes

Operation 1325

Operation 1325 is an umbrella organization initiated by several Swedish women’s and peace organizations. Through advocacy and training, in Sweden and internationally, the organizations objective is to increase women’s influence at all levels of peace processes and in conflict resolution. Operation 1325 advocates, informs, educates and creates platforms for debate and dialogue to influence decision makers, civil society and the general public with the aim of implementing UN’s Security Council's Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.

ABOUT CEDAW: The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), adopted in 1979 by the UN General Assembly, is often described as an international bill of rights for women. Consisting of a preamble and 30 articles, it defines what constitutes discrimination against women and sets up an agenda for national action to end such discrimination.
